I have been playing drums for a while, and self-taught. Should I be taking drum lessons?
Drum lessons are not just for beginners. Drum lessons are for people who want to improve their skill and improve their knowledge of grooves, concepts and ideas.
Many drumming greats continue to take lessons well after being an established drummer because there is ALWAYS something to learn! Music is something that cannot be perfected and is constantly changing, evolving and offering something new to learn.
I'm at a plateau in my playing where I don't feel I'm improving in my skill. Would drum lessons help me tap in to my creativity?
Absolutely! Studying with other drummers will allow you to see and hear music from a different point of view which helps you to expand your creativity!
Not all drummers hear parts or grooves the same way. Everyone has a different level or concept of creativity.
I have always wanted to play drums but feel my age is older than what one would want to teach.
All of our instructors have taught from 6 years old up to 75 years. You are never 'too old' to learn to play the drums. Lessons are for individuals who have a desire to learn and become the best drummer they can be!
