Tech Tip Tuesday #5 - March 18th with John Poblick
On Tuesday March 18th, we posted our fifth installment of Tech Tip Tuesdays with renown gigging drummer John Poblick!
Largely independent drummer for session and touring, John is currently the full-time drummer for Honey Sukle Moonshine which is a gritty Southern California rock band and Sorrow’s Native Sons which is a Smiths tribute band!
John started playing drums in the mid 80s and was quickly playing in Hardcore bands! His major influences aside from the usual suspects, Copeland and Bonham, are Mike Russell (Shudder to Think), Glenn Graham (Blind Melon), Felix Griffin (DRl), and many others!
He recently joined the band Electric Gremlin which is a Hip Hop/Ska/Soul band based out of San Pedro California. He is constantly subbing for live gigs and touring when not doing session work in the Los Angeles area!
He has worked with Grammy Award winning producers including Jeff Weber.
Endorsements include Paiste Cymbals, Yamaha Drums, Canopus Snare Wires & Accessories, Danmar Percussion, London Drumstick Co. and Beato Bags!
For this Tech Tip Tuesday, John shared the importance of taking Gaffer's Tape or Gaff Tape to a gig as it can serve for many purposes! Drum dampening, quick fix of a stand, sliding Hi-Hat stand or bass drum pedal. Gaff Tape is definitely an item that is slept on and shouldn't because of what all you can attain from it. Come by the shop and pick a roll up today!
